Cosmetic Dentistry in Wilmington DEAbsolutely – a nice smile is a key part of looking and feeling your best. It even adds to your self-confidence and self-esteem. You see, excessively worn front teeth age a smile (some may even suspect you wear a denture!). They often chip and crack, leaving uneven edges. Worn teeth can be lengthened and chipped or damaged areas corrected using advanced dental materials.

Modern dentistry is redefining beauty. Damaged and decayed teeth and dark, old fillings can now be restored with tooth-colored materials that replicate the appearance of natural teeth. Also, because these materials are securely bonded, dentists can be more conservative while preparing your teeth for a filling. Thus, you retain more of your natural, healthy tooth so you look and feel great!

The Tooth-Colored Filling Procedure

When you arrive for your appointment, here’s what you can expect from this common dental procedure:

  1. First, we’ll ensure that you’re comfortable and relaxed. If you have dental anxiety or a fear of the dentist, we can accommodate you and provide a pleasant, stress-free experience.
  2. Your dentist then isolates the tooth to keep it dry and removes all signs of decay.
  3. Next, they apply the adhesive, followed by several layers of tooth-colored material. Little by little, we rebuild the tooth and cure the layers in intervals with a special light.
  4. Most patients experience exceptional results with tooth-colored fillings, and they find these fillings tend to be durable and last at least as long as conventional silver amalgam fillings, if not longer.
  5. Experiencing minor temperature sensitivity is expected during the first few days after your filling placement. However, these sensations will quickly subside.
